Starting a Team
Our goal at TBHSV is to help support, help facilitate, and help grow boys high school volleyball in Texas. You are welcome to contact us with any questions about starting a team, but if you are looking for a quick how-to here it is:
Check List for Starting a Team

Find a director/coach

Talk to your athletic director about becoming a sanctioned sport.

If you can’t get athletics on board, talk to the activities/club director

If your school has a girls’ volleyball team, speak to the coach and see if you can use their equipment – then all you’ll need is the correct size balls

Determine individual team cost and player dues

Host an open gym (advertise, talk to boys, invite the girl’s team) you’re going to want at least 15 guys to show up.

Attend TBHSV information night at the end of November

Register by January 19th, 2023 for the TBHSV league

Attend the Coaches meeting January 19th, 2023

Find gym space, set practice times, order jerseys

Get ready to play some volleyball!
